Blueberry/Lavender Vodka Slushy

This recipe involves a little planning ahead to make infused vodka…but it all comes together in a super quick blender slushy that is perfect for a summer party and a great way to celebrate the end of summer.

Makes four 8 OZ slushies:

• 6 OZ blueberry/lavender infused vodka. (recipe follows)

• 1 C frozen blueberries

• 4 OZ fresh squeezed lemon juice

• 1/4 C honey (more or less to taste)

• About 3 cups of ice

Combine lemon juice and honey and mix until well blended, add more honey if you like. Be sure to add honey to lemon juice BEFORE putting everything in the blender. Honey will turn into a frozen blob if added to ice-filled blender.

Add blueberry/lavender vodka, sweetened lemon juice, frozen blueberries, and ice into blender. blend on high until you have an even slushy consistency. Add more ice if needed.

Pour into Small Tumblers, and garnish with a lemon slice or sprig of lavender if you like. Cheers!

Blueberry/Lavender infused vodka:

at least 3 days in advance -  Combine 1 bottle of Vodka (we like Portland 88 Vodka from New Deal Distilling) with one pint of fresh blueberries, and 2 springs of fresh lavender in a large glass container. If you can’t find fresh lavender, you can use 1 teaspoon dried culinary lavender. Careful not to overdo the lavender, it’s strong stuff!

With a large spoon, smash some of the blueberries to release juices into the vodka mixture. Store mixture in the fridge until party time.

poppunkmutants:

but have you considered:

  • strong females who don’t denounce femininity or being girly
  • strong females who are “like every other girl” bc why the hell not girls are rad
  • strong females who tear down the culture of girls hating on other girls
  • strong females who are proud to be feminists
  • strong females who support and acknowledge trans women
  • strong females who understand that being strong isn’t synonymous with manly or with “acting like a man”

The President

The 3200 year old tree so massive that it had never been captured in a single image until recently.

This giant sequoia stands 247 feet tall and measures 45,000 cubic feet in volume. The trunk alone measures 27 feet and the branches hold 2 billion needles (more than any tree on the planet).

This picture took a team of photographers from Nat Geo, 32 days and stitching together 126 different photos to make.
